Characteristics and description of the Black Moor tomato variety, yield and cultivation


Every gardener from time to time would like to grow some unusual culture, such as the Black Moor tomato. This is a variety that will definitely not disappoint even the most picky gourmets, and the main distinguishing feature is its dark red, almost black color tomatoes. But first things first.

Characterizing the "Black Moor"

The Black Moor tomato is a semi-determinate species with a mid-season ripening time. Tomatoes are grown both in the open field and in film greenhouses. As for the appearance of the first tomatoes, at least four months should pass from the moment of the first shoots.

The growth of the bush reaches a meter in height, and in the greenhouse version - one and a half meters. The initial brushes are formed at the level of 8 or 9 leaves, and then every three. This infrequent arrangement of brushes does not give a large number of brushes, however, the bush can contain an average of 8-10 fruits, there are also individuals numbering 18. The variety involves a garter and pinching.

  4. A thick skin will provide good protection for tomatoes: under the influence of boiling water, the fruits will not crack.
  5. The small-fruited variety is a true decoration for various dishes.

To obtain such tasty and beautiful fruits, proper care of the crop is necessary, first of all, so that the plants are not exposed to various diseases. Those who have already planted these tomatoes are aware that they lack stability to the unfavorable conditions of their environment.

Proper care of seeds and seedlings

The characteristics and description of this variety will be incomplete without the rules of care, so that the harvest will really please.

At the very beginning, you should start preparing the seeds. It is good to temper them for a comfortable existence in the open field. It is recommended to test the seeds for germination and make treatment against potential fungal diseases. For example, an improvised solution of potassium permanganate, copper sulfate, bleach, fungicides or hot steam.

According to the scheme, they are kept in the cold for a couple of days, then the appropriate solution is applied, and then, after processing, the seed is washed and immersed 2 cm into the soil.

It is advised to keep containers with seedlings in a warm room at least 22 and no more than 25 degrees with a low level of air humidity. The pick is carried out after the emergence of two leaves of the culture. The soil itself is transplanted after 45 to 50 days have passed until the earth is completely warmed up, when the risk of possible late frosts completely disappears. Then the harvest should be plentiful.

Tomato cultivation details

Tomato cultivation is more successful, according to the advice of experienced gardeners, when a garter occurs, especially with loaded brushes. Also, do not forget about loosening the soil around the bushes and weeding regularly. Despite the primitiveness of these measures, they do not lack efficiency. Aeration and illumination are easier to carry out on pegs or trellises.

If a stem of a decent length is left on the ground, the crop can become infected with fungus or damaged by insects. And the elimination of processes in the leaf sinuses contributes to a better yield and taste of the fruit.

At the onset of flowering and laying of "Black Moor" tomatoes, they need abundant watering. The rest of the time you need to water it periodically, about once a week, and always with warm water.

Cold running water is not irrigated, watering is carried out when the sun does not burn. Excess and lack of moisture for the Black Moor variety are equally dangerous.

Even if the soil for planting is fertile enough, it still needs to be fertilized. Potassium and phosphorus are included in the top dressing, and tomatoes are fed in the open field three times.

When signs of spider mites appear, apply Karbofos to spray bushes. The popular option will be garlic infusion with the addition of liquid soap and dandelion leaves. The Strela preparation, manual destruction and deep digging of the soil will save you from caterpillars, and the whitefly, which contributes to yellow leaves, fungal growth and wilting, can be defeated with Confidor.

It is important to remember that it is prohibited to introduce any substances in the second half of July due to the possible accumulation of nitrates during the ripening of the fruits.

Reviews for the "Black Moor" tomato are mostly positive. Let's review them:

  1. An indisputable plus is taste;
  2. Fresh use or as a snack;
  3. The compactness of the fruit is optimal for canned placement;
  4. Excellent keeping quality;
  5. No damage during transportation due to tight walls;
  6. Normal attitude to drought and temperature changes.

Of course, the description of the variety also notes negative aspects, for example, low immunity. The culture, as mentioned above, is not resistant to all microorganisms of pathogenic origin, such as fungi and bacteria. However, with proper care, shrubs infest infrequently and do not suffer from insect damage or disease.

The description of the "Black Moor" variety does not imply strong difficulties for growing even for novice gardeners, and the results will give an additional reason to be proud of their work. And although there are drawbacks among the features of the variety, most gardeners recommend the described variety as a worthy candidate for planting both in the open field and under a film cover.
